The Charlotte Urban Design Center would like to invite you to our studio on January 18th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM for a screening of The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces. The film, released in 1980, reviews the observations of researcher and planner William H. Whyte.

Upon its release, the film showed (and continues to show) the world that, through the basic tools of observation and interviews, designers and planners can design more livable cities.

Following the film, panelists will discuss how their work has been influenced by Whyte’s observations. Megan Gude, planner at Kimley-Horn, and Varian Shrum, Community Manager at Camp North End, will share their experiences as planners, managers, and placemakers in two of the hottest areas in Charlotte – South End and Camp North End.
Seating is limited, reserve your ticket today.
