Tiya Caniel will be displaying her artwork at Not Just Coffee - Atherton.
Artist Bio:
Tiya Caniel Maynard is a Black, queer woman currently residing in Harmony, North Carolina on ancestral land. She is a person who thrives when she is well-fed, well-loved, rested, and connected with joy. She guides folks in the practices of yoga and meditation, and loves to fuse yogic teachings into her art. Her well-established creative practice is more non-traditional as she is a self-taught artist, working in different mediums to allow space for play and to lean into her personal liberation. A deep connection with joy, ancestral veneration, mindfulness practices, and personal freedom fuel her creativity and art-making. As a result, Tiya aspires to incite feelings of joy, curiosity, intrigue, self-expression, and LIBERATION in others through her works. You can find Tiya in her studio at the VAPA Center in uptown Charlotte, thrifting, napping, or in some dope spot eating delicious food.
