In his classic 2010 film 180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless, Jeff Johnson retraces Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins’s 1968 journey to Patagonia.
When Jeff first saw Mountain of Storms, a film documenting that famous ’60s road trip from Ventura, California, down to Patagonia, he was inspired to recreate the epic for himself. Along the way, he meets up with Yvon and Doug themselves and learns what moved his heroes to dedicate the rest of their lives and livelihoods to protecting wild places.
